How to fit a new rear leg (missing images)

Whether you’re replacing a damaged leg or upgrading to a different style, fitting a new rear leg to your Carp Porter is a straightforward process. Follow this step-by-step guide to get back up and running quickly.

Start by removing any wheels or feet attached to the leg.

Next, locate the nut and bolt on either side of the leg – these act as the pivot point. Undo the nut completely and slide the bolt out. Once this is removed, pull out the locking pin, and the leg should come free from the frame.

Position the new leg onto the frame, ensuring the flanges sit correctly over the frame tubing.

Pull out the locking pin and guide the leg so the pin can locate into the hole in the frame. Release the pin to lock it in place.

Now insert the leg bolt:

Important: Nyloc nuts contain a nylon collar to prevent loosening. Tighten the nut until it bites into the thread and suddenly becomes harder to turn—this means it’s correctly secured. Do not overtighten, as the leg should still be able to pivot freely.

Check the movement by pulling the locking pin and folding the leg—ensure it pivots smoothly.

Finally, reattach the wheels or feet to the new leg. Once that’s done, your barrow is ready for the bank again.
