How Adam Packs His Carp Porter Barrow
Whether he’s heading out for a single overnighter or a five-night session, Adam’s approach to packing his Carp Porter barrow stays largely the same. With a consistent layout and a few thoughtful packing choices, he makes full use of the Dark Kamo luggage range to stay organised, efficient, and ready to fish from the moment he arrives at the swim.
A Barrow Built to Work Hard
Adam has fully kitted out his barrow using the Carp Porter Dark Kamo luggage system, chosen for its smart design, durability, and how easily it allows him to access the gear he needs. His goal is to make the barrow work for him—by keeping everything in its place and ensuring the most-used items are always close to hand.
In one side bag on the barrow, Adam packs key tackle items:
- Buzz bars
- Banksticks
- Scales
- Receiver
- Spare pop-ups
By keeping these in a side bag, he can get to them instantly—perfect for getting set up fast when arriving at the swim.
On the other side, he stores personal essentials like:
- Waterproofs (an absolute must)
- Wash kit
- Spare clothing, including hats and extra layers
Favourite Piece of Luggage? The Front Bag.
At the front of the barrow, Adam uses the Dark Kamo Compact Barrow Bag—his favourite piece from the range. In the main compartment, he packs:
- A large tackle box
- Toaster
- A Compac pouch containing head torches, spare batteries, and other small tackle items
- A cookware bag with all his cooking kit and a few extra bits
When it’s time to set up, the bag detaches quickly and sits right next to his bedchair for easy access throughout the session.
The Rear and Centre Sections
Adam keeps the Barrow Tidy Bag at the rear of his barrow. It’s home to various spare items but most importantly, his barrow cover, which he always brings along. Once he’s set up, he loads gear back onto the barrow and uses the cover to protect everything if bad weather moves in.
In the Drop in bag in the centre, he stores soft items like:
- Spare socks and joggers
- Spare gas
- Towels
- Change of Footwear
Even fully loaded, Adam’s setup still leaves room for more—proof of an efficient system that avoids unnecessary bulk.
Loading Order: Adam’s Go-To Method
Adam always follows a specific loading order to balance his gear properly and ensure everything is secure:
- Unhooking mat first – to create a flat base.
- Bedchair goes on next, with legs folded out.
- Bivvy sits neatly on-top of the bed.
- Bucket of bait and water gets positioned on top towards the front wheel for balance.
- Chair sits at the back on top of the handlebars.
- Food bag goes on next.
- Rod holdall is placed across the top, strapped down last.
Final Touch: Clever Strap System
To finish, Adam uses Carp Porter’s barrow straps, which work in conjunction with the Dark Kamo side bags. These clever straps include integrated loops, allowing him to secure his load tightly—without blocking access to the side bag zips. That means even once the barrow is fully loaded and strapped down, he can still grab his buzz bars or waterproofs without having to unload everything.
